English Ivy or Baltic Ivy is a perennial vine used in rock gardens, as well as a ground cover and is effective for the prevention of soil erosion. English Ivy forms beautiful cascades both from indoor and outdoor pots, clings to upright surfaces, and can be trained to form shapes.
English Ivy prefers a few hours of direct sunlight daily, but grows well in indirect sunlight. Leaves can be 1-6-inches long with 3-7 lobes, or no lobes at all. Leaves may be wavy, ruffled, curled or cupped. Foliage is generally green, but can be variegated with white, cream, yellow, or pink. Subtle white blooms appear in the fall. All or parts of this plant are poisonous.
English Ivy is a fast-growing plant that lives in dry to moist conditions and prefers fertile soils that are easily worked, consisting of a mixture of clay, sand, silt, and sometimes organic matter.
