Description: Shrub with wiry branches about four to six feet (120-180cm) tall. Flowers yellow an inch or two (2.5-5cm) across, followed by a fleshy central mound from which a few black seeds protrude giving the effect of mouse ears (Mickey Mouse, of course).

If you want to mix your own take: 1 part garden soil, 1 part coarse sand or perlite, 1 part moist peat or humus (leaf mold) and a light dusting of lime. Always use a pot with a hole.

Fertilizer: Feed every two weeks during the spring and summer with a water soluble fertilizer.
