Hi,
We just planted about 12 of the Variegata Pittosporum's last weekend. We notice now that some of the leaves are falling off and have black spots on the leaves. Is this normal? Thank you for any information you can give us.

Kathy, I hesitated to reply to you because I do not know what the black spots mean in your situation. I think that the leaf fall is a water problem. Probably not enough, although too much will do the same thing. When you have first planted from a container, the only roots that the plant has are in that potful of soil that was in the container, and it takes careful watering to keep this moist until the roots grow out wider. We have had Pittosporum Plants in our yard and we plantted them almost 12 mths ago. As the plant has matured and grown in size, several have started to dry out, as if they have not been watered enough and have died back to sticks. Whilst all other plants look lucious and full! Do you think that they have been poisoned or could they possibly have a disease that we could treat with some nutrients or fertilizer. We have noticed they have some black spots but hardly any at all. When the plants have died, they have died from the inside out, thus they die one branch at a time.....can you please help us, we don't want to loose them all!
