I was given a plant by my parents. They have no idea what it is but they were going to throw it out and I wanted to save it. But, I have no idea how to care for it. It has to be at least 6 years old. I know it only needs for the most part bright filtered light. It looks as though it would be from the Dracaena family because of it's cane like stems and looking at the cuts that have been made toward the bottom of the stems, it only produces one stem(not a bushy plant). The majority of the leaves are between seven and nine inches long and look like a tear drop(If you start at the base of the leaf, its about 4 inches across and goes to a point at the end). The plant hasn't been cared for properly in a long time because the canes are curvy and not strong(canes are about 1/2 inch in diameter). It has to be tied up. There are many canes in the pot and it really doesn't look all that great but I think the leaves are pretty and would make a nice plant if cared for properly. Any help would be much appreciated. i.e feeding, light correct?, pruning, name.
