Hi,
I have a corn plant which has one stalk 12" high and one which at four feet splits to three stalks. Two rise to between ten and twelve feet high. The third's height is six feet. The two taller stalks are at or near the ceiling. I'd like to cut them and reroot them, if possible. Could I get some advice as to how this might be accomplished? The plant seems very healthy. There are leaves starting at five feet to the top of each stem.

Ed, You can find all these answers in the archive if you just enter "draceana" and 180 days. Basically, cut it wherever you want, Cut the cut-off piece into as many bits as you want. Stick the base of each piece an inch or two into a free-draining mix and water carefully. Roots will form in about six weeks if you keep it in a warm place. The nurseries do all their propagation this way, using cane which usually comes in from Central America with all the leaves stripped off. I would take the same path since most of the leaves that you leave on will die. The exception is the tip piece which will keep at least some of its leaves through the rooting. Your plant which splits into three must have flowered at that height - that is the typical aftermath of having the terminal bud convert into flowers. Derek

We bought this plant with two canes....both had nice green leaves that have brown on the tips....my daughter thought she would remove all the brown leaves on the shorter cane and the green leaves fell off....it is now just a cane....should we cut off the top and repot it to revive it....and what do we do so the other doesn`t die off.
