My co-worker has a plant that was doing fine. When she returned to work the plant has become limp and the leaves are turning yellow. We transferred it from dirt and put it in clean water. I can't tell if it's getting better are worser. I'm not sure what kind of plant it is.

This plant was given to her in memory of her father passing away we would like to save it if we can.

Without lots more information on the plant, It would be very difficult to tell you what plant it is. What is the leaves size, shape, color, what does it look like?
Yellow leaves most likely mean it was not in the right light, or overwatered or underwatered.
