I have a sega palm plant in my yard.now lots of small baby plants have come up at the bottom of the main stem.please tell me how to care for them and how to transplant them to another site.also if I let a few grow around the main plant whether it will spoil the main plant or restrict its growth?
thanks.

I also have a plant that my mother gave me for mothers day, and what i do is water it throughly once a week and mist it everyday, and it is very healthy looking and real green, when my local nursery told me to water it in the bottom like in a self watering pot i tried that but it was getting root rot so that is definately a no no, so try that, you should see a difference within a couple of weeks.

My sega palm has lots of brown leaves on it from a couple of freezes during the last winter. What do I do with it now? I live in Ft. Worth, Tx.
Thanks,
Kathy

In the middle of my sega palm tree there is a big yellow cone. Am I supposed to cut it down?

I live in Florida and we have sega palms, one over 5 1/2 feet tall. When the lower leaves turn brown, I get some snippers and cut them off evenly around the bottom. Doing this with several layers makes it look more like a palm type of tree eventually as the sega grows taller. Removing the brown leaves keeps the rest of the palm nourished properly.
We have an inground sprinkler system and it runs for about 30 minutes each day.

Break the babies off, put them in sandy potting soil, add palm fertilizer and water daily until roots are grown, then put in ground.
