I have a ZZ plant it seems to be growing well but I have spotted a small black centerpeed looking bug (I hope that's the correct spelling. The plant has thrown only two shoots since I bought it in January. I believe that this bug is eating the new shoots, becaust when a new shoot begins to develope and grow it stops and drys up or just stays there.
I feel that even if I change the soil that will not get rid of the little animal. I want to sprinkle some lime on it but some plants don't cotton to lime and lime may burn it.
What can I do to the soil to rid my beautiful of this bug?
Please Help

If you don't want to change the soil or use any chemicals which I wouldn't do, at watering time, you can try flooding the soil outdoors until the creature or creatures come up with the water to the top and flow over the sides, you might have to replace some soil that's lost. If you have one centipede, you may also possibly have more.
Another way is, check the top of the soil at night with a flashlight, you might see it then, then just scoop it up with a cup.
