We have a vine plant that predated our ownership of our home. It wraps itself around anything planted near it and tangles itself in branches and leaves. It is a nuisance and we've attempted to rid ourselves of it on several occasions. We thought we pulled it out be the root, only to discover that it has multiple roots that pop out of the ground in several locations. It sometimes bears medium size white flowers. We are planning to re-landscape this area and don't know how to get rid of this thing without infecting the soil. Any help you can offer would be most appreciated.

Hi Cathy,
Ummmmmmm....keep pulling I guess. You might put down some form of ground cover to hinder the growth. Something like black plastic then work your new landscaping around that. Sorry, this is a hard one if you don't want to possibly damage the area. I have used weed killer with great success. Just spray it on the plant and do not soak the soil around it. All it takes is a fine spritz on the plants leaves or roots.
