I seem to have what looks like gnats in one of my house plants. They seem to be just on top of the soil. I heard you could spray with a mixture of dish soap and water. I have done this twice but there are still gnats. They are not biting gnats, just the kind that are very tiny and annoying. I see one or two flying around. I sprayed the soap mixture on the soil around the plant I could see a few fly/walk around on top of the soil. What can I do to get rid of them? Thank you.

Hi Renee,

Soil gnats are from soil that is or has been too wet. Let the plant dry some. I have used in the past regular ordinary house hold bug spray. It usually will not harm the plant especially if you apply to the soil. Forget the dish soap!!!
