My Brazilian neighbor gave me a return favor gift of some flowers/plants. They look like long, hard stalks with the beginings of very colorful, hard, unopened leaves. The stalks are still very green yet hard. The stems and colorful leaves or flowers emerging from these stalks look like they should open up and bloom soon.

What do I have here, and how do I take care of these plants?

If they are cut flowers, keep them in water and write to us when the leaves and flowers open. If they are plants, water them with care and write to us when the leaves and flowers open. Derek
