I was wondering, I recently bought some soil from the drug store and I opened it up and there were fruit fly type bugs in the bag. I used it anyway figuring they'd go away once I used it. I am using the soil for a house plant and the bugs are getting worse. Are these fruit flys and what can I do to get rid of them.
P.S. my plant is a greenleaf houseplant I don't know the name. thank you

At some of the better nurseries you can find an insecticide granules that you apply to the soil. The plant absorbs it, but the greatest thing is no more gnats. It not only destroys the eggs but keeps adults away for a very long time. I use to have fungal gnats all over my house;not anymore. Use it very sparingly, it goes a long ways.
