i do not know what the name of this plant is or if it is poisonous. it has stems that grow upward with red or purple leaves that are velvety. newer leaves are green with red/purple centers as they grow the green disappears. it likes lots of light. i hope this is enough information.

Sorry, it isn't enough for me. Have a look at pictures of coleus (look under Solenostemon) to see if the leaves are like that. derek
