Amanda, these plants are a type of impatiens, and have about the same lifespan, so it may just be that it has lived its life. Most people get a couple of years at most, so reassure your friend that it is nothing that she has done wrong, just the passage of the seasons. Derek

I was looking though the bulletin board on plant care and saw that you answered a few of the questions. My question is about soil. Some of my house plants have white fuzz growing on the top of the soil. I just usually turn the dirt over to hide it, how can I make this white fuzz stop growing? Is it mold? Also I have two flowering plants, but no flowers the buds fell off and have not come back. One is a peace lily. I also have some poinsettia's That did not bloom last year. I was wondering if I should prune them because they are everywhere and look awkward. Thank you for your time. I'm going to see if I can find anything on plantcare.com
