I received a plant when my dad passed away 3 weeks ago and do not know the name of it but I seem to be losing it. It is what I call a cornplant in that the leaves resemble the leaves of corn in the fields. It is verigated with dark on the inside and light stripe on the outside. I have not watered it much but leaves are pulling off or turning yellow. It is a beautiful plant and I would hate to lose it. Can you help?

Joann, sounds like you have a variety of Dracaena. No direct sun, they like low light and when you water you should use distilled. They are sensitive to chlorine and etc. After 3 weeks it probably needs water, but they do like to dry out some.

I bought a cornplant about 1 1/2 yrs ago. It has been slowly dying since day one! The leaves are "wavy" and have brown tips, then they gradually turn yellow, then turn brown and crispy and I have to end up cutting them off. It has already lost it's top 3 bunches of leaves. Now the bottom leaves are doing the same. I am going to end up with just the bare canes. The ladies at the plant nursery from where I bought the plant were very adimant that I only water once a month at the absolute most. I water with distilled water most of the time. This is my favorite plant and it also holds sentimental value. How can I save this plant?
