HELLO...I HAVE ABOUT 9 IVY'S THAT I GROW...WELL THIS PAST WEEKEND I WAS WATERING THEM AND I NOTICED THAT ON TWO THERE WERE THESE LITTLE WHITE FUZZY LOOKING BUGS ON THE TIPS OF THE LEAVES, AND UNDERNEATH. I HAVE TRIED RESEARCHING THIS ON THE INTERNET AND THE ONLY THING I CAME UP WITH ARE WHITE FLYS, BUT THATS NOT WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE AND THEY DONT HAVE WINGS....YOU CANT EVEN TELL THEY MOVE UNTIL YOU GET REAL CLOSE TO THE PLANTS.. I'M TRYING TO SAVE MY PLANTS FROM THESE BUGS, BUT I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO TREAT THEM, BECAUSE I DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE CALLED, SO IF ANYONE OUT THERE CAN HELP ME WITH THIS I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT. THANK YOU.

Thank you so much for your help. I checked the rest of my plants and the rest of the ivy's have them too, so I think I'm going to have to end up throwing them out. I know it says to treat them with rubbing alcohol, but there are just so many of them. Do you know what causes them to get on your plant? I've been researching on the internet and the only thing that I can't seem to find is do they only live on plants, or can they survive in your carpet too?

Before you get rid of them, try a drenching spray of all parts of the plant with soap and water (about 20 drops of washing up soap in a pint or so of water). You won't get them all the first time, but two or three sprays should help a lot. These guys only live on plants, but getting just one in on a new plant can infest the others fairly quickly. Horrible creatures! Derek
