I would like to know what pests do damage to the gardenia plant and how to get rid of them. thankyou

Every pest known to mankind affects them. Start with scale, mealybug, white fly and spidermite, not to mention nematodes in the root. Soap and water will treat all but the nematodes. Check the 'Plant pests" section for pictures. Derek
