a few years ago I bought a plant that had a round head that looked like red velvet sss it got about 3 inches across and had green leaves. the plant stick said it was a jewel plant. I have not seen one since and would like to find one.

I wonder if it might be one of the amaranths. They have bred so many different kinds that your "velvet" doesn't seem out of the question. Try a google search under the name 'celosia' - enter that and then click on the images key. Look at the things called celosiabrains. Derek
