I received a bamboo plant as a gift but don't know how to take care of it. I was told to just add water to it once a week and do not put in direct sunlight. It sits in a vase with water only. I don't exactly what type it is. Is there anything I should do in addition to what I was told?
Thanks,
Connie

Yes, no direct sun or the leaves will yellow. Indirect or dapple light is ok. A couple other things you might like to do is add some pretty colored glass stones/pebbles to the bottom of the vase. The water should be changed now, maybe every week or two and any stones should be cleaned as well to keep the water clean and clear. If you know if your plant is called a Lucky Bamboo, it's not really a Bamboo, it's just called that. It's a (Dracaena sanderiana) with stems and leaves that somewhat resemble real Bamboo. As far as fertilizing, I use a very small, and very diluted amount when the water is changed. Too much, and you can burn the roots.

I also have a bamboo plant......most likely Dracaena Sanderiana. It is beggining to turn yellow and the leaves are falling off. It is sitting in a pot with stones and water. I do change the water frequently and it is not in direct sunlight. Is there anything I can do to save it?
Thank you~~ Kris
