Hello,
I've had a Peace Lilly since my father's death in the spring of 1993. It has been fine until this past winter. The leaves are turning brown and brittle. Please Help.
Thank you

The same thing happened to my peace lily recently. I just repotted it yesterday. I've had it for almost 5 years and it has always been kept in the same exact spot in the same planter. It has always been healthy and then the leaves started to turn brown/black and very "crispy". Here is the info that I received:
The good news is that it doesn't sound like the worst of the very nasty diseases that can affect the plant. My guess (sight unseen, so it has to be a guess) is that it is physical damage which has been invaded by a fungus that lives on dying tissue. If your plant has been healthy for a long time, keep doing what you have already been doing, and watch developments. Write again if the black of the younger leaves spreads. The texture and sound that you describe is typical of a damaged leaf of this plant. Derek

Hi i have had the same thing happen to mine as well. The tips of the leaves have all gone brown and brittle. First i thought that it was because i accidently left it out in the roaring sun for the day, then i thought it was because it wasnt getting enough light, then i thought it was the potting mixture or it was root bound. I am at a loss too. I repotted mine too and am using a once a year Yates fertilizer but it doesnt seem to be working. They have only bloomed once since i bought them 3 months ago. It could have something to do with the climate change. I dont know. Guess we should just keep doing what we are doing and hope for the best.
