Several months ago we found some big roots washed ashore on a beach in northern France. Big as beets, but looking like a ginseng-roots. We took one with us and planted it: out came a climbing plant with green leaves looking like Hedera but the leaves are rough and slightly hairy. It climbs very fast now with the help of little curly sticking roots. Up till now no flowers. Nothing seen like this yet, I think its a tropical root. Can anyone help me. I can give you pictures.

Sounds like the beginning of a fairy story for children! Nothing comes to mind for an i.d. but I may be able to help with the pictures: derek@horticulturist.com will reach my email. Derek
