Hello,

We have an indoor corn plant (called Thierry) who has been growing really well for the past 2 years. Last week he started getting little yellow mushroom looking things in his soil and my fiance is sure that he has seen little bugs crawling in the soil as well. We removed the mushrooms and this week they have come back with avengence so we're not sure what to do next. We're very worried. They only seem to be growing on the darker side of the plant, rather than the side which gets the most light. His leaves look a bit withered and he doesnt look as bright as normal.

We also have a Yucca plant (called Reyes) which has been struggling for a few months, his leaves are very withered since repotting him last year and the soil is getting white bits in it and looks a bit contaminated.

Any suggestions on what we might be doing wrong - before we kill all our plants!!!

Thank you

First of all, the yellow mushrooms are absolutely harmless to the plant, and will soon go away. They are seasonal in the production of the mushrooms and normally live in the soil as fine threads getting nourishment from bark or peat.
The yucca may never have got its roots right after the repotting. Be very conscientious with the watering (moisten completely, every bit of the soil ball) then wait until the top inch or so is dry before soaking it again. The leaf symptoms are a sign of not getting enough water - not necessarily that you haven't been watering but because the roots are not picking it up. The white bits? Who knows. You have to describe them better than that. Derek

hi.....i need some advice about our corn plant. we've had her for a little over two years....and the plant has always done very well. but in the past month or so, we've noticed that the leaves are starting to curl and more and more brown edges and spots are covering the leaves on one of the stalks. i'm worried that there's some sort of contamination. is there a proper way to turn or improve the soil?? right now, we are just cutting the brown and watering every other week.

please, please give us some tips to saye our favorite plant.
thanks,
jenifer

Did you find out what is causing the brown spots on the leaves of your corn plant? I am having the same problem.
