WE BOUGHT A PEAR TREE AND IT WAS SITTING NEXT TO A GARDENIA PLANT THAT HAD SPOTS ON IT, IT WAS THERE FOR 1 DAY, THEN IT WAS MOVED AND THEN PLANTED A WEEK LATER, THAT'S TODAY, ANYWAY I NOTICED IT HAS SOME SPOTS ON THE LEAVES AND I PLUCK OFF THE LEAVES WITH THE SPOTS, BUT I'M WANDERING IF THE PLANT WILL SURVIVE OR WILL MORE SPOTS COME BACK, SHOULD WE KEEP THE TREE, IT IS PLANTED ABOUT 5 FEET FROM AN APPLE TREE THAT IS FINE, SHOULD WE SPRAY IT WITH FUNGAL CONTROL, WILL THAT WORK?

Miriam, there are so many causes for 'spots' that I really can't advise you. Do the spots move? I would try a mild soap and water spray, covering all of the leaves top and bottom, and then not worry any more. Most leaves have spots if you look closely, and live quite well. Perhaps there is someone local who could look at a leaf with its spots and give you a better answer. Derek
