My Schefflera has this sticky substance on it's leaves, actually looks like sap. Any ideas on what is wrong with the plant and what I can do to make the sap go away for good.

It probably has scale. Look at plent pests on this site for sure.
It is very difficult to get rid of, you have to be persistent.
Alcohol works and may take several applications.

I am having the same problem with my Schefflera. Most of the leaves have sap on them. I also want to know what to do about it becasuse it is making a mess of my plant and the area around the plant. The plant leaves are green and new growth is appearing but it is so sticky to touch.
