I have both tree types and plant types. Can I plant them? I live in Columbus,Georgia and have been told that some types cannot stand winter tempatures.

I dont think columbus GA gets cold enough to kill them off.. Its probably the tropical variety that would be killed off and wouldnt come back in a cold spell. ones like the LUNA hibiscus will die off then come back the following spring.

I have the tropical varity and before the buds opens they fall off the plant.. is there anything I can do to prevent this?
