We received several of these beautiful plants for my Sons funeral. I would like to keep some starters and send the plants home with my Daugh-in-law. Can you tell me how to do this with best chance of success? Sincerely, Sue Hunter

Hi Sue: Sorry to hear about the loss of your son. I can't help you too much as far as starting new plants, but use potting soil that is made for cactus/succulent plants. I have some Jade plants (succulents) and I have accidently broken some leaves off of them, stuck them in the soil and they started new plants. That my be a possibility of putting the cuttings in the soil and wait for them to root. Maybe someone else will have a suggestion or suggestions.

You can take cutting from the succulants. Place them in moist potting soil for cactus and succlants. Keep moist do not overwater. It will take sometime but they will root. If it is a cactus you can take a cutting but you need to let it dry for 7 days. The cut end should look like a piece of cork. Plant it in soil for cactus and succlants. Spend the extra money for good soil. Keep them moist until they form roots. Place them where they can get the morning sun and some protection from the hot afternoon sun. Tracey

I have a plant I think is called Hen & Chicks. Not sure. I would like to find out about the care of this plant. Does anyone know what plant I am referring to and its care?

Thank You

Hen and chicks are the easiest plant to keep. Keep them dry, be carfull not to over water. A well lit area is great and in the summer put them outside, thay will mulitply like bunnies.
