I have a wonderful plant! I would like to know the name. It has large broad leaves that come out of the base. The color of the leaves is whitish green. To water it one pours a little water right into the heart of the plant. You can determine when to water it when the water level in the middle of the plant gets low. You do not water the soil it is planted in. Would happen to know the name? Thanks.

Sounds like a Bromiliad. There are many different species.
