From your description, it sounds like you may have the plant called an Asparagus fern (densiflorus sprengeri) Not a true fern, but a member of the lily family.
Give it half sun/half shade, or bright indirect light is ok as well.
Water it thoroughly, then let the top inch dry before re-watering.Fertilize using half strength in the growing season, none in winter.
The berries start off green, then turn re, the red berries can be planted in a small shallow pot to make more plants by peeling the skin away and pushing them down a little under the soil then watering them in.
The roots can grow quickly and have even broke one of my clay pots right in half trying to bust themselves out.The roots are tuff and can be cut down shorter with a saw if you don't want to keep going up in pot size.
