Bird of paradise plants do not bloosom til they are 3-4 feet tall or about 4 years of age. Brown tipped leaves can indicated not enough water or humidity. I grow mine outside in the summer (it actually doubled in size), and brought it indoors late September. It recieves southern light and is placed directly in front of the window. I water about every 2 weeks. My plant is also clustered with other like sized plants which helps with humidity.
