These plants need a lot of light to do well. Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia reginae) do best with at least four or more hours of direct sunlight everyday, the rest of the day bright light. I have had the white flowering BOP for at least 5 yrs and have yet to see any flowers.
I have heard that it can take years to decide to flower even with the best of care indoors.
The leaves alone are beautiful, so I haven't gone out of my way to give it more light to flower other than inside the house in a south-west window, but plan on summering it outdoors this summer, but getting it used to higher outdoor direct sun should be done slowly, or the leaves will fry....

Feed every other week or so from March through September with a balanced fertilizer like (10-10-10) None in late fall and winter.
