I was given an orchid cactus and do not know what it is doing. It came in a 12 inch pot , so I am sure it is more than 3 years old. I brought it inside in the fall and it seems to be doing fine. I have about 6 to 8 spikes growing out of the main stems. One has reached over 3 feet tall and nothing is growing on them. Is this where the flower buds appear or what? I have been on the internet and have found pictures of orchid cactus, but none have these spikes on them. Please can you help me figure out what the spikes are for and how to enjoy the blooms from the cactus, if I have any. I have know idea what the name of this cactus is until I see the bloom. Thanks , Richard Robinson
