In our palm plant we seem to have a lot of centipedes in the soil. Is this hurting the soil, plant, or us? Being that it is winter, I do not want to take it outside to clean the pot and change the soil. Will our plant be O.K. until spring?

Are you sure they are centipedes and not millipedes?
Centipedes are almost flat to the ground with one pair of legs on most of their body which go after smaller prey. They can move very fast and can bite which feel similar to a bee sting and can cause a bad reaction in some people. Millipedes have a more rounded head two pair of legs per body section and their outer skin looks kinda like a brown/grey armor and will curl into a ball when touched. They feed on decaying material in the soil and sometimes small fine roots. If they are millipedes, and you don't mind them being there, waiting shouldn't be a huge problem until you can get them outside to go live elsewhere. I discovered a lot of them in one of my potted plants also during winter and just waited until spring to get rid of them outdoors.

Your right, they are millipedes. I will wait until spring to let them outside. Thanks for responding to my question-I greatly appreciate it.
