I had a plant, thought it to be in the "Dieffenbachia" family, that one afternoon my daughter got some of the liquid drops from the leaves into her mouth and it caused her vocal chords to be somewhat paryllized for about 2 hours, she litterly could not talk. Can you tell me what plant this was?

It sounds very much like what the juice from a dieffenbachia would do. I hope that your daughter is o.k. now - it may have been an unpleasant but useful experience for her. Derek
