I have obtained a plant through a friend who, like I, does'nt know the species and asks for your help in identification.

It is a tropical/exotic looking plant. It's small now, about 8 inches at the highest point. It consists of two stalks, which have an interesting design: there are circles, or eyes as I like to call them, up and down the stalks. At the top of the stalks are green plant material that appears to be developing in a leaf of somesort. Around the base of the stalks are about five, 5" banana ear type leaves.

If you can help me identify this plant, I would also greatly appreciate if you could tell me any "fine tuning" details about the care. Thank you very much.
