I have a house plant that I don't know the name of and therefore, I don't know necessarily how to care for it. It has a long stem, elongated green leaves and the leaves develop s sticky substance on them about a month after they emerge. What is this and how do I care for it? It only has about 10 leaves on it at a time. I had it in the window but then I moved it behind my desk so it is getting somewhat reduced light. Help!

It's hard to know what kind of plant you have from the description. It does however sound like your plants has some kind of pest. Scale? Spidermites? aphids? You can either toss it, or spray the entire plant thoroughly (every inch until dripping wet) with mild slightly soapy water "cover soil" once a week until pest are gone, keep out of direct sun until dry....

If you have an online album, you can send me a picture if you would like and I'll try to identify it for you.
Keep this plant away from others if you have anymore or it can become infested as well.
