My Hibiscus houseplant has been in a "resting period" for awhile and has started to lose its leaves (the new growth that had developed is intact; otherwise, the stems are more or less bare.) Perhaps I've overwatered. My question is - is there hope of it returning to a beautiful plant again and blooming or should I give up on it and discard it. I'm not sure it's worth the effort to experiment with it - I'm not a patient gardner when I run into trouble with a plant, especially when I don't know what the cause of the problem is. Thank you

Hibiscus like a nice bright spot with some direct sun to grow and flower well. Try a west or south window that will get some sun for a few hours
In the warmer growing season, let the soil start to dry out some before re-watering, but don't let the soil get bone dry or wilt from thirst.Keep the soil close to evenly semi moist conditions. Not soggy wet.
In the winter a little less water is ok.
Fertilize from about March-October with low nitrogen, like 20-10-20.
Cut back the bare stems to the next leaf down, or go back a few leaves if you like which should help the plant put out new growth.
Of course, it wouldn't hurt to ck for pest.
Don't give up, this is a pretty easy plant to take care of with the right care.
