Each of the leaflets will root if you push the "stem end" an inch or so into well-drained soil - and have patience! Derek

I just recieved some clippings of a plant and I'm having a hard time finding out what it is!! It's small to medium, rooting in water right in a bright window, and the light shines through the leaves making them all appear purple! I would say plastic or fake looking! When they are not in direct sunlight, only the underside of the leaves is colored. The top being your typical green... It's cool, I just dont know what it is!!

This is a common way for leaves of plants from shade (like a rainforest) to use. It helps them make use of what light comes to them. There is no way in which I can guess what it is unless you can describe it - better yet, email a picture to me at derek@horticulturist.com Derek

it looks a little like a wandering jew, but the leaves are much thinner. They are about and inch long, tear drop shaped and pointed at the end. Some parts of the stems are also purple. The leaves are a little fuzzy, but not even half as much as say, an african vilot.... does that give you anything??Thanx!

A friend gave me a clipping of her ZEEZEE plant and I put it in water. I want to know if the plant will root in the water or should I put it in soil.

Sara, what you have described sounds a lot like purple heart or some other kind of Tradescantia.
Gina, you should take your zz plant out of the water and insert it in potting mix. Water it and provide tent for humidity. Rooting takes a while but it will root!
Good luck to everybody!
