Jane, I must ask, why did you buy a plant without insisting on the care instructions? It is a reasonable requestto make in the shop, but until we start fussing at the stores (and on up the line to wholesalers, growers etc.), they will keep on with these shoddy practices. Please boycott these sloppy stores and let them know why - the information IS available to them.
Now, what to do; these alocasias like strong light (short of direct sun, and will thrive with the usual wtaer well then dry a litle routine. They have very low fertilizer needs, so be sparing. It is a nice eplant, isn't it. I hope it does well for you. Derek

My leaves also turned and then died. I thought it was dead. It had been outside with the rest of my houseplants. Then a couple of months later it started to sprout new leaves. Aperantly it has a resting peroid like the amerilla. It is beautiful at the moment and has even sprouted a new leaf at the bottom pf the pot seperate from the rest of the plant.

Alocasia Polly ---

Lots of water dripping from the leaves, like tear drops,

Is this normal?

Hiya, I had a 'Polly' and it didnt do so well then I heard that you must only use rain or bottled water, Ive just brought a new one so will let you know how it goes :) I also had the 'crying' where water dripped off the ends of the leaves... not sure why that was as it didnt happen when I first had the plant...
