I have a Jade that I recently got from the locol Lowes. It is only about 6" tall and wide. Recently it has been above 100F degrees outside. The jade looked very healthy when I got it but now some of the leaves are getting dark splotches on them. Lowes had them under their "green house" and I was wandering if it is just too young to handle the heat. Should I bring it inside? I would like it to stay outside so it will grow faster but not if it DIES! I have been letting it dry completely out before watering. Thanks for any info. I searched but.........

Hey Dr. Greenthumb,

You're problem is not that it is to hot, it is that you are not watering your Jade enough...Especially being that it is so hot. From everything I've found on-line, about Jades, they should never dry out in the spring and summer (which is their growing season). They should be moist but not wet...
Alternatively, in the winter months, Jades are in a dormant state and that is when you should let the soil dry out. Try this link maybe it will help: http://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheets/hgic1507.htm

Ahh, thank you very much. I did not catch that in all my reading. I was letting it sit totaly dry for a few days before I watered! Thanks again. Maybe now it will take off!!
