Which house plants are best for cleaning the air? I have heard that some plants, like Ivy, work as well as electric air purifiers. Thanks for your help. Kate

Hi Kate.
I think you would need to have a jungle in your house for the plants to work like an air purifier, no?

Hey Kate Plants,

Plants that top the clean-air list include peace lily, bamboo palm, English ivy, mums, and gerbera daisies, all of which are both easy to find and easy to care for. I got this info from: http://www.treehugger.com/files/2004/10/top_5_plants_fo.php

I have also read that ferns, spider plants, and philodendrons are great air purifiers for the home or office.

The only real study with exact measurements, is Dr. Bill Wolverton's study...A simple Google search will yeild you more information than you will know what to do with.
