hello, i'm new here. i don't know all that much about plants...i've never really kept them. a few weeks ago my husband brought a cyclamen home for me. i love it!!!
however, the past few days it hasn't been doing so good...the stems are going limp and it looks like its withering in parts. i haven't been keeping it in direct sunlight, just sunlight through blinds and i only water it when the soil feels dry. our apartment stays very cool, so i don't think it's getting too hot. i've tried researching it online, but i don't know what else to do. i'm kind of confused as to how this plant works...does it only bloom once? what am i doing wrong? i really love it and i don't want it to die! it has sentimental value. any advice/tips would be awesome, thank you!

Fleshy stemmed plants like Cyclamen or Peperomia, African Violet etc. are kinda tricky to take care of.
Usually these plants are placed in sub standard lighting areas. By doing that the person is inadvertently stressing the plant and opening it up to easily being overwatered.
What needs to be done is that mushy leaf needs to be removed, weekly during maintenance. Increase light levels. Separate the nursery container from the saucer. Caution should be taken when watering. It is very important to avoid water on stem or leaf. If it water sits on the stem it will cause a type of stem rot, confusing the issue of overwatering or under watering. If you follow these recommendations and the plant still declines then you should increase light levels even more.
Do not fertilize or repot for a very long time. If the plant fails do not mix the refuse soil in with your potting mix. Sterilize the container before reuse.
Good luck

Hi; cyclamen likes skylights! I know it's difficult to keep them beautifull all the time. You seem to take good care of it. Water it only twice a month. I have a lot of them (all the colors) int a big pot in my skylight, and they are blooming all year long. Sorry to tell you such a thing. They like to be forgotten sometimes. So, good luck.
