hi cheryl first you take the pineapple and cut off the top an inch or so down from the top then trim around the edge fairly close to the leaves then dip it in fungacide which you can buy at a garden shop or you can use cinnamon which is a natural fungacide the fungacide keeps mold from growing on the pineapple meat then put the top in good soil so just the bottom few leaves are burried in about two weeks the roots will start growing from between the leaves that are under the dirt. the plan will start sprouting like four days after you plant it and you will eventually get a pineapple when the plant sends out a flower you will need to pollenate it there will be three flowers and all three need to be pollenated you can use the flowers own pollen for that all three need pollensted because all three of the ovaries will develop into one pineapple so it isn't really worth it of you are in for the fruit but it is a fun project

I tried this about 3 years ago with two pineapples. They grew into lush, very nice looking plants that I was able to put on my deck-the plant itself looks like some type of cactus(pineapple is a succulent, sort of like an aloe). Unfortunately, this past fall, I was a little late in bringing in some of the plants-the pineapple plants appeared dead. I took them into my potting shed, and lo and behold, one of them is now sprouting new babies-I repotted it, fertilized it, and it is now coming along nicely-I have heard that given time and the right conditions, you will actually get a pineapple

Very easy Cheryl;
you cut the top about one inch and put it in a glass of water.
Roots will grow very quickly.
Good luck. Like light.

rodrigue.
