Hey,
I have 2 questions:
I have a young Jade (approx. 3" tall) I was wondering how to get it to branch out...Is it like other plants, where you pinch off the new growth, to put the energy into the existing plant? Also, when is it advisable to do so?
How do I add pictures to my posts and what size should they be?
Thanks!

It is an extremely slooooooow grower but when it gets branchy enough, you can repot new plants from a cutting. Real Simple. I think the success of this plant is in its soil mix: 2/3 part small pebble rocks and 1/3 part cactus soil. I found it amazing but it really works. CLAY POT is a must this will keep moisture and wick away moisture.
I have a jade plant that is 16 years old. It now sits in a clay pot with a shallow dish on a tray with wheels on my northern exposure front porch in Central FLA (It is tolerating the winter so far.) It gets a half a day morning sun and an occasional mist when it rains. Its lucky if I water it about twice a month. I have basically ignored the poor thing and it has reached three feet in height and three feet in width and has branched out on its own over the years.
At this size, I don't think I'll be able to transplant it any further because it branches below to the bottom of the pot and its extremely heavy. We have had to roll into a garage three times for hurricanes and has survived a move from south to central Florida in 2005. Be patient, good luck and happy planting.
