So we got a majesty palm a month or so ago. Got a pot, transferred it, gravel stuff on the bottom, daily misting. Watering whenever the soil looks dry. The house is usually 60-90-something degrees, and he's near a window, but to the side so he's not too close but still in some light. SO.
He was doing great for a while. Occasionally he'd ask for more water but then he'd perk up and be fine. The cats started eating him. So he's having some issues with that. They peed in his pot once so we tinfoiled around the pot and they don't pee anymore... But they still chew. Also, he got thirsty and we watered him... And he hasn't perked up. He's droopy and sad and his leaves are drying out. He's started to lean and looks pretty unhappy. Some of the fronds died so I clipped them... But I don't know what I can do for our beloved palm, Charles.
What can we do to take better care of him?? =(

First of all, cat urine is very acidic and if untreated it will eventually kill the plant. I would recommend flushing the plant thouroughly with water so the water runs freely through the plant for a couple of seconds. Next, I would apply powderized lime to the plant. The lime can be found at most garden centers and will help to neutrilize the acidity of the soil caused by the cat. The plant may need a couple of applications of lime to help but it should take care of it. After that, watch the plant and new groth should start appearing.
