Hello, new member here trying to learn a little about how to care for a plant I've had for the past 10 years. From searching this and other sites, I think it must be a Dracaena (I originally thought it was some kind of palm), but I am not positive.

The problem is that it has grown from about 6 feet to over 12 feet, and because of its' previous location, all of the trunks are severely angled (it was growing towards a skylight).

I would like to cut back the stems and am wondering if I will get new growth from the new crowns. I believe I will as there is already new growth on a couple of the trunks, but before killing this old buddy of mine, would like to get some advice.

Here are a coupl of pics.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can cut back the can to where it branches off split off into two tops and it will be fine. When you do, watch the cut to make sure it doesn't bleed too much sap, if it does bleed sap then simply apply a tree pruning sealant to the cut.

Thanks, JustMe!

Would it be harmful to cut a couple of the longer, non-brached stalks about 18-24" above the gravel? Would it split off new stalks from there?

It would be fine to do that, it should grow a new growth again, but I wouldn't cut the overall size of the plant more then 1/3 of the total size of the plant.
