I am renting a house and the landlord left a lot of plants for me to take care of. I can't figure out what this one is and don't know how to take care of it! Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks so much!

The plant has woody stems with large leathery leaves. The leaves have thick veins running through them. Pictures can be seen here:

The plant is a Bird's Nest Fern and the care is quite simple. Keep your Bird's Nest Fern in a low-light area. Place the plant in a window with indirect sunlight.

Tips & Warnings

Grow a large Bird's Nest Fern by putting your plant in a large container. The houseplant can grow to be 6 feet tall.

If your fern's leaves are turning pale, the plant is getting too much sunlight.

Be careful when handling a young fern's leaves. They are very brittle.

Don't let your fern get too hot. The plant will turn yellow at the base of the leaves and eventually brown.

I looked at some pictures and read about a Bird's Nest Fern, and while the leaves look a little similar, don't ferns leaves usually grow out from one point at the bottom? This plant has leaves that grow out from different stems and then leaves that grow out from the leaves. So I'm still not sure what it is......

The plant looks like an Epiphyllum oxypetalum (Queen of the Night) to me. Check it out at http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2443/
