How do you reroot corn plant?? I have a cut in the middle of the stalk, and it seems to be getting soft in the middle. Or will it be alright, its as someone to a ax to the middle of it. I found it in the garbage, leaves are green and has roots on the bottom of the stalk.

I would cut the stem at the 'axe-cut" and repot the root section. Check the stem at the top and cut off a bit more if you need to to get to a firm healthy part.
The bit that you took off the top should also have the base cut shorter until it looks healthy. Then that part should root if you stick it a few inches into a god potting soil. Derek

Candace, I prefer a moist potting mix for rooting - the stem does need moist soil to keep it from drying out, and then more water as roots start - but I would not start it sitting in water. I may not be reading your question properly, but, yes, stick it into moist dirt and it should grow right off. Then get back to normal watering as roots develop. It isn't necessary to start it by sitting it in water, in fact I personally don't have much success that way. Derek
