I have these white fuzzy dots that are in a row so they look at first like white fuzzy lines but are really individual dots on the stems of many of my outdoor plants. I first noticed them on my gladiolus but have since seen them on many more. Help please.

They are what you call - Mealy bugs...I have had them on one of my houseplants before. I took a little spray bottle, put half water & half alcohol in the bottle and spray the plant down and also took q-tips and got the bugs off.

these are mealy bugs and what they do is suck the juice out of your plants. take them off with alcohol as soon as possible and move your plants to another area away from your healthy plants.

Keeping your plants clean, on a schedule, is the best way to thwart the bugs. Regular washing with water will keep leaf pores clean and rinse away insects even before you see them. For small plants, rinse in the sink for 20-30 seconds or your bath tub and be sure to clean the stems, leaf axils and especially the undersides of all the leaves. For larger plants, use a sponge or soft cloth and wash all parts monthly or more often.

Buy White Oil from a garden supply and follow the directions for diluting the white oil, keep in a small spay bottle to spray the effected plants, be sure to spray under and above the leaves and stems.White Oil is harmless to humans and pets but will smother the wooly bugs on your plants.
