Hi, I've had this plant for a couple years but never had any tags/labels to help identify it. It's gotten rather large and out of hand so I need help identifying it to get more information on the proper care. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its a Dracaena probably "Massangeana". Dracaena is also called corn plant, golddust plant, madagascar dragon tree and or any combination of the above plus dozens more. Dracaena is a member of the lily family. Feed lightly with each watering throughout the growing season. In spring or early summer, stimulate new growth and rejuvenate old plants by cutting back Six to eight inches. Propagate by tacking suckers from the base, three inch stem cuttings from young plants will root in moist mix, older tall plants around three feet should be air-layered. Trim off brown tips and pull yellow leaves make sure to thoroughly wash through the soil with a few gallons of water every three months to remove accumulated salts, this will keep the leaves in good shape.

This is actually a Dracaena Warneckii variety called Lemon Lime (I think). They are a great plant to help clean the air. That is part of the reason they brown at the tips (impurities build up). But it is often the case that there is maybe too much chlorine in your water when you water the plant and those salts get deposited in the tips of the leaves. Try leaving your pitcher of water out overnight before you water to let any chlorine escape.
