Hello: I just bought ming aralias at Home Depot. I'm new to gardening, someone please help me!
1. the window in my room has a draft; is it ok to keep the plant in a corner under one of those new energy-saving white light bulbs, which is cold and pretty bright?
2. Watering advice is conflicting; some places say that soil has to dry between waterings, others advise to always keep it moist.
3. there are 4 thick trunks in a small pot. Is it ok to separate it? Any tricks to do it with minimal root damage?
Thanks so much!

I have ming aralia and other Aralia's but I grow them in the garden because I live in Australian Tropics They are very tough plants and are good drought tolerant plants so I would not keep them damp. Let the top 1 inch of pot mix dry out before watering again. I see no reason not to divide the plants just tip the pot out ans shake the roots loose and repot again. Try them in the spot you have with the light .if they still look green and healthy after a month ok. IF they are not happy there, they will yellow or wilt or get brown tips .
